Welcome to Majestic Mountain Country! As soon as you’re deep into the landscape, you’ll recognize the inspiration for the John Denver song, “Rocky Mountain High.” During the next few days you’ll be viewing some of the most majestic landscapes in America; places where volcanic action pushed the peaks higher and rivers cut canyons deeper than in most other places. In other places, you’ll find deserts punctuated with twisted, craggy forms. In still others, lush greenery covers rugged countryside. Upon reaching the South Dakota Badlands, you may feel like you’ve reached another planet. The lush tree-laden mountains evolve into twisted, craggy sandstone shapes, the work of millenniums of water and wind. And of course, not to be missed, Mount Rushmore is most dramatic seen at night.

From there, it’s off to Yellowstone, America’s first National Park, with Old Faithful standing guard. Next, you’ll be awed by the ever present mountains of the Grand Teton Range, punched up through the earth like craggy blades. Even at Jenny Lake they loom massively overhead. In between, you can experience western culture galore. Then it’s back on to Colorado, for one last look at ancient dinosaurs, more mountains and not to be missed Vail. Return home having visited the best of the best in mountain scenery in America.
